Am I the only one who thinks this would have "Bad Idea" written all over it? You will have to be extremely carefully not to damage the screen or you may lose control of your own iPod.

no John, your not. this would suck. yes it would be cool. in fact it would be freaking awesome to have a touch screen on your ipod until, oops, what do you know, your screen gets all oily fro fingerprints . Or even better, you're fingernail scratches it. The only screen protector that would be possible would be a thin transparent membrane that would get scratched instead of the screen. over all. i would call this about as good of an idea as attacking a rabid bear with some pebbles.

I'll tell you what's a good idea.
A full screen like that,
with the buttons on the back.
You can quote me on this one. -Hal

Maybe Interchangable Faceplates... when one gets scratched and dirty you remove it and replace it...
Sounds stupid...Though maybe a Possibility?

Eh, nomatter how awesome this looks, and probably would be if they did this, I can't imagine how they would stop the scratches. My 5g video ipod got scratches all over it within the first week I owned it, and I kept it in the case! To have the whole thing be the screen would mean terrible fingerprints and scratches.the only sort of case (I think) that would work would be a PDA type case with a flip cover. I'm almost favoring the buttons on the side/back then this. Still, big screen would be pretty sweet to watch movies on.

apple will probably sell an iScratched-it set so you can polish and clean your ipod when it gets scratched and dirty

Apple is magic land. They'll come up with an virtually unbreakable glass cover that also withstands fingerprints and bodily oils.

Scratches, are you guys blind or what. They have been putting big (relatively) touchscreens on ipaqs and palm for years!!! How many people have "ruined" an ipaq from oily fingers? very few, they clean very easily.
I have had ipaq for years, they do break if you really whack 'em, but i've dropped one several times, and it was ok every time.
Are you guys ignorant of anything not apple??

My God...There are already thin, durable plastic shields you can put over iPods screens and bodies. www.theinvisibleshield.com
Bad Idea? You guys are morons, simply put. Technology of the future, turned down due to fingerprints? Morons.

HEY anyone consider anything other than scratches or fingerprints - HOW ABOUT BATTERY LIFE?!? Can anyone with a 5g iPod -even a 60G one- tell me how long their battery lasts while watching a movie?!? Maybe two-three hours? How many hours of battery life would this thing eat up with a screen twice as large? Unless Apple includes some sort of iColdFusionReactor with it, I don't see this happening in the near future.
