Plextor introduced today a new line of “shock proof” external hard drives, the PX-SP08U (80GB) and PX-SP12U (120GB). Both models sport a silicon jacket bumper to protect the drive when dropped. They measure 3.3” x 0.7” x 5.5”, weigh less than 8-ounces, and have a maximum data transfer rate of 480Mbps via USB 2.0. Expect to shell out $169 (PX-SP08U ) – $260 (PX-SP12U) for these drives. No word yet on availability.
