Polymer Vision Rollup Display

Polymer Vision introduces a new flexible screen technology that's rollable - with a roll radius of 0.75cm - and has a switching time of 0.5 - 1.0 seconds. The display features an optimum refresh rate of 50 Hz and offers 240 x 320 resolution. GPS devices, cell phones, and computers may soon use this technology. [OhGizmo!]

But is it really in color? The last time i saw this it was barely working well with black & white. Imagine making sticker's out of these... tagger's would love it...

This is identical to the devices used on "Earth:Final Conflict" - a show that aired for about two seasons on Sci-fi. About time it became real. The video on the Polymer Vision Home website says they will start hitting the market in late 2006.

yea, I remember seeing something like this on that movie, "Minority Report." Can you imagine the potential with those, awesome. You could make a laptop the width of a few pieces of paper or use the your car's whole windshield as an HUD for detecting things in your view. I want one please!

Yeah okay, clearly photoshopped. Go google E-Ink, they were the first and the biggest and they still have really crummy looking displays by most standards. The tech is cool but this isn't realistic, don't expect it any time soon.

It's not photoshopped. Go to http://www.polymervision.com/ and look. Yes, it's a mockup as far as "what" is on the screen but the website clearly shows people handling and using this device. Also there is video of it's capabilities. It is still going to be marketed for GPS/maps/ebooks/stockquotes/news etc but they will be out this year and I guarantee you'll see full video before the end of this year. Everytime someone is skeptical they use the "photoshop" defense without bothering to check the provided links. It's gettin' kinda old people.

How is it possible to have a switching time of 1 sec and a refresh rate of 50Hz? It makes no sense!!! If the display has 50Hz then it would have a response time of 20ms not 1 sec.
