Most of the pile technology has already been patented by Apple years ago. Neat demo, though!

this is so pointless. And much more unorganized then what is previously used.
7
Very cool, but come on.. very lame to try and justify it at the start by saying computer desktops are less organised than our real world desks. The reality is the opposite. Using this desktop would be fun for about 5 mins.. after that, finding anything would be like playing a game of concentration.

I don’t see why this couldn’t be done with a mouse and keyboard. Shortcuts and several mouse buttons would make the regularly used options nicely available for the user. You could also have personal keysets stored on an USB stick which you could just insert into a machine that uses this technique and then use it as you would your own. Also, with networking connections becoming more and more compatible you could have net spaces in “office use”. While ignoring the limitless possibility for abuse and practical jokes, this could be an enormous asset to any midsize corporation that has people with several levels of computer know-how (and what midsize corporation doesn’t? ;) ) All in all, it’s an excellent innovation and I’m actually surprised no one’s built a working prototype of it before. It looks a bit heavy to have on top of an existing Windows OS, but a *nux/Mac system should be able to handle it.

practical but is it useable?
11
....who would have like 40 files on their desktop?

I don't understand the fascination some people have of solitaire, but it is a popular game. Turning the interaction of a computer into something fun could be quite refreshing, if not addicting. Of course if you get bored one could make 52 folders titled like a deck of cards and go at it.
13
A good try. Although it might not be practical for use, it definitely is a good work to inspire people's thinking.

What would be really cool is if on that virtual desktop had a virtual computer on it with another desktop app in that so that you could put your real files into virtual files then print them out to the virtual printer on the virtual desktop which you could then spellcheck and send to your real printer on your real desktop which you would then realise that you put the wrong date on the top so you would have to then go to your desktop and copy and paste the right date to your file and then send it back to your virtual file on your virtual desktop to edit then reprint to your dektop and then back to your real printer on your real desktop.

i think it could be useful. i work at a moving company and having this running on a second monitor with shipper files and such to open and go through GBL's, weight tickets, and bills of lading would be a lot easier. we could use anzio and what not on the other screen and input info off the file and vice versa.

very nice :)

holy S***!!! This absolutely redefines the keyboard+mouse+screen posture!!! Makes Windows Vista and xGL+Compiz, just a kid-game attempt!!! OMG! what about the physics stuff!?¿? simply Incredible! Uses a GPU, or PyshicsPU for calculations? GLSL shaders?
