TypeMatrix's EZ-Reach 2030 could be the ultimate keyboard. It features a modular design, one-touch key switch to "Dvorak", straight vertical key columns for increased typing accuracy, and a thin profile. Additional information here. More pictures and a video demonstration after the jump.

Honestly, that thing looks like garbage. A lot of their reasoning for repositioning keys just seems flawed.
But then again, I may just not type "right", or I just have big hands and it's not a problem (except on a tiny laptop keyboard).

Every so often someone claims to have reivented the keyboard... the same one we've been using for 100 years... People try it with cars too, but guess what, we've been using those for 100 years too. (4 wheels, seats, a steering device, a gasoline engine)
If they really put any research into it, it would NOT be a qwerty keyboard. Since qwerty was designed just to sell typewriters. Look at the the letts of "typewriter" fall on your kb.
This is BS. You're just going to confuse people by moving shift and enter. Plus, they are staggered for a reason. Mental perception of where your hands are w/o having to look down every second.

I once read that the only reason the keys aren't in alphabectical order on keyboards is because in the day of the typewriter people were typing soo fast it was causing the actual typerwriter to jam mechanically. someone should put them back in order, granted people would have to relearn to type but if it increases your WPM significantly then i say why not.

It's known, that Dvorak layout is more effective than Qwerty. I've heard the same reason of jammed keys as Tavbiy mentioned. I can see I will get used to this layout, but the biggest problem comes when you'll have to work on other computer with conventional keyboard. It's like when I go from tablet back to mouse or from touchscreen back to trackpoint.

I think the qwerty style keys are placed by how often the specific keys are used Tavbiy.
But i dont know i never read of typewriters jamming

If you go to the web site you will see that it is one of the only keyboards that will switch from Qwerty to Dvorak (a keyboard layout that shortens finger motion by 50%) with the click of a button. it also comes with skins to make the transition easier. on the comment about the car, cars have changed a great deal, bigger, more reliant, faster, better gas millage. its true that the general keys to input characters has not changed but this keyboard would be the equivalent of 100+ miles to the gallon.

It would be easy to learn if you did't have much typing experints. but i don't really know how it stacks up to a normal keyboard untill i get a chance to try it out.
