(Video) Trace Any IP Address

"Jackson" sent in an interesting video tutorial on how to trace any IP address and "then see a satellite picture of the location." Video after the jump.
The traceroute tool is available on practically all Unix-like operating systems. Variants with similar functionality are also available, such as tracepath on modern Linux installations and tracert on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Windows NT-based operating systems also provide pathping, which provides similar functionality

You dont have to wait thru all "tracert". Instead of "tracert" you can use the command "ping www..com" which resolves the IP ardess immediately.

This claims to be fairly accurate. The problem is that it only shows a general location, usually the location of the ISP or sometimes the local exchange (where a bunch of connections meet and are sent to the central ISP).

lol... definitely use ping if you just want the final ip... even when using tracert, it gives you the final ip immediately - "tracing route to (final ip)..."

tracert is better to use because it resolves the destination IP address based on the actual routing tables. Ping uses the ICMP protocal which is often blocked to prevent DOS attacks.

Wow, that's pretty acurate considering that the White House is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in D.C. Not Boston! We all know how our government loves doling out misinformation.
