Fortnite on the PS5 Pro with hardware ray tracing makes a big difference, or at least when you’re just enjoying a casual game. For starters, the software-based Lumen global illumination typically deployed on consoles has been replaced with the hardware accelerated version more usually found on PC, resulting in vastly improved visuals.
Global illumination differences can be seen in the diffuse lighting, as software Lumen sometimes just isn’t physically plausible, but with hardware accelerated RT solves that issue. Dynamic object lighting has also improved immensely, with accurate bounce lighting in world space now being objects made of triangles being traced against, rather than just in screen-space as is the case with software Lumen.

Just smart usage of resources. TSR is purpose built for Unreal 5 and here it is being utilized by the developer of Unreal 5. Makes far more visual sense to use the hardware resources to boost base resolution and implement hardware RT here,” said one commenter.
