You just boarded a six hour trip from New York to Los Angeles with your phone at 8% charge…but your outlet on the plane is blocked by a stranger who’s snoring away. You start rummaging through your suitcase for that phone charger cable which always seems to go missing whenever you need it. That fear vanished the day Anker inserted a 2.3-foot USB-C cable into its new 10,000mAh Nano power bank, priced at $39.99 (was $59.99), and snapped it back with a single tug.
Experienced travelers already have a mental checklist of essentials to pack: passport, wallet, keys and charger. But Anker has now crossed the charger off that list. The 2.3 foot long retractable cord is cleverly stored inside the power bank, rated for no less than 20,000 pulls before it starts to fray. Just reach over, give it a tug and the cord comes out, plug your phone in and the spring-loaded spool retracts the slack back in as soon as you unplug – no more cluttered pockets or mad dashes to the airport airport kiosk that sells $29 cables wrapped up in plastic clamshells.

The size comparison is reminiscent of a deck of cards: it measures roughly 3.2 inches long, 2 inches wide and 1.4 inches thick. At 8.2 ounces, it weighs less than two baseballs, but can give your phone a massive 10,000 milliamp hour boost, enough to charge an iPhone 17 Pro from flat to 50% in 20 minutes or a Galaxy S25 Ultra to half charge in 24 minutes.
Single port mode gives you 45 watts of power until the bank runs low (less than 20%), then when you plug in a second device, the power gets shared between the two of them : 15 watts apiece when using two ports, or a more modest 7.5 watts when all three are firing away at once. A small colour screen on the front gives you a quick readout of how much power is left, how much is going out and how long it’ll take to get your phone to 100%.

At the airport, you can just slip it into the security bin next to your laptop and there won’t be any issues – no questions, no second screening – the 36 watt-hour limit for carry-ons is well below the 100 watt-hour limit that airlines set. And when you land at 2 a.m. you can just plug the same retractable cord into a 30 watt power brick and the Nano will charge itself in two hours. Plus with pass-through charging you can even charge both your bank and your phone overnight using just one socket – a lifesaver when you’re stuck in a tiny hotel room with only one available power outlet.

The engineers at Anker have also included some pretty clever safety features like their ActiveShield circuitry which is constantly monitoring temperature – 120,000 times per second no less. If it gets too hot, it cuts back on power. If there’s a short circuit, it switches off. And if you drop the thing on the jetway by mistake? Its matte shell will hide any scratches that would be a pain to deal with on a cheaper plastic model.
