Apple Watch Ultra 2 Gets New Smart Stack, S9 SiP and Double Tap Gesture

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 will not only run WatchOS 10, but it gets the new Smart Stack, S9 SiP and double tap gesture as well. This powerful watch chip delivers on-device Siri with the ability to access and log health data privately as well as securely, while a new 4-core Neural Engine can process machine learning tasks up to twice as fast as its predecessor.

Use the double tap gesture to open the Smart Stack from the watch face, and another double tap to scroll through widgets in the stack. Tap both the index finger and thumb of your watch hand together twice to quickly perform many of the most common actions on Apple Watch Ultra 2. The display is also much brighter at 3000 nits for greater readability in harsh sunlight, dark rooms, or early mornings. Rotate the Digital Crown to temporarily double the brightness when necessary. A new Modular Ultra watchface takes full advantage of the large display by using the outermost edges to show real-time data such as altitude, seconds or depth. Similar to the original Apple Watch Ultra, its ultra rugged body can be used anywhere from 500 meters (1,640 feet) below sea level to 9,000 meters (29,527 feet) at the world’s tallest peaks. Going in water? It can be used at depths of up to 40 meters (131 feet) including kitesurfing, wakeboarding and recreational scuba diving. It goes on sale September 22, priced at $799 USD.
