Fans of the 1990s X-Files sci-fi series now gain a fresh way to revisit its world through bricks. A designer from Brisbane named Brent Waller first shaped the concept years ago as a personal project. He started with Mulder’s office during a rewatch in 2014 and later expanded the idea to include more scenes from the show. The submission won a spot in LEGO’s 90s Nostalgia Challenge on the Ideas platform, leading to this official release.
When completed, the model, which consists of two connected scenes, rises to an impressive height of more than 12 inches. Fox Mulder’s office is at the bottom, with a wooded clearing rising above it, and a UFO suspended on a transparent pole gives the impression that it is hanging directly over the trees. This beast is around 9 inches wide and deep, and it may be left together as a unified display or separated for individual configuration.

Inside the office, minor things do an excellent job of recreating the environment where many crucial conversations took place. There’s the iconic “I Want to Believe” poster, a tile on the wall that says “The Truth is Out There,” a few pencils placed in the ceiling to offer that “comic book inspired” vibe, and, of course, a tile of sunflower seeds adjacent – a tiny little allusion you could miss at first glance. Standard office furniture and filing details round out the room and are a dead ringer for the actual item depicted in the episode.
The upper forest area uses trees and open ground to create the setting for that iconic alien arrival moment, and the UFO really rises off the base when necessary, thanks to its translucent support, which gives it the look of floating without any additional supports to ruin the appearance. The entire chunk of the construction focuses on the frightening outdoor encounters that were a feature of the series.
The scenes include eight minifigures, featuring Mulder and Scully in their usual attire, as well as Walter Skinner, Mr. X, and Alex Krycek, who are all involved in the series’ massive conspiracy. Carl Busch and The Flukeman are also featured for monster aficionados, and the group is completed by a pretty fascinating grey extraterrestrial with a new head design designed just for this collection.
The model lets you to attach the figures in a variety of positions, allowing you to be truly creative with your display. There are also a number of small supplementary pieces scattered around, such as a frog and a bee, that pay homage to significant moments in the performance. Look closely while building or displaying the finished model to discover a range of intriguing details that will make you smile.
This is a big set, with 1,478 pieces, and it costs $199.99. It is rated for ages 18 and up and includes instructions for the LEGO Builder app. The kit will be available to LEGO Insiders first on August 1st, followed by a broader release on the 4th. If you order between August 1st and August 10th, you’ll receive a free bonus set, a small Scully’s Lab, while supplies last.
