A new trailer for Toy Story 5 has been released, and it’s apparent what the toys are up against this time: tech that is silently stealing their space in the room (and their owners’ hearts). Here we are, right back in Bonnie’s room, with old friends attempting to navigate a world that has mostly moved on.
Bonnie, now eight years old, is addicted to her tablet, Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart device voiced by Greta Lee, and spends the most of her time dedicated to it. The trailer begins with a humorous scene in which Forky gives Jessie to a plastic knife of all people, claiming that “Husband and Knife” is the happy couple.

Woody, by the way, is beginning to show his age. The other toys tease him about having a bald patch on the top of his head. Someone says that he might simply need some brown marker to sort himself out. The jokes are humorous, but they also emphasize the fact that time passes in the toy world just as it does in real life. Woody wears a red scarf (he even uses it as a makeshift poncho) in a throwback to his traditional appearance, which is both nostalgic and functional.
Craig Robinson brings some happiness to the party as Atlas, a talking GPS hippo toy, while Matty Matheson adds some much-needed suspense as a wild card toy. Conan O’Brien appears as Smarty Pants, and Shelby Rabara mentions Snappy, a toy camera that will point its lens wherever you want. Scarlett Spears appears as Bonnie, while Tom Hanks reprises his role as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Tony Hale as Forky, and Keanu Reeves all make an appearance.
Andrew Stanton and his colleagues, co-director Kenna Harris and producer Lindsey Collins, do an excellent job of keeping the animation new and vibrant, even as the toys age. The lighting is brilliant, and the colors are vibrant; nevertheless, when the screens are turned on, the situation changes dramatically. The trailer ends with a huge question: Can old-fashioned playing survive in a world enthralled with modern technology? Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
