Marques Brownlee, also known as MKBHD, goes hands-on with the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, a flagship smartphone that was just released in China on April 10, 2025, loaded with some awesome features.
It’s got a brilliant 6.82-inch AMOLED screen that’s super sharp with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, so everything from flipping through apps to playing games looks smooth. The bezels around the screen are razor thin—just 1.4mm—making it look sleek and immersive. The handset runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, with up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage.

- The award-winning Pixel Camera includes a 50 MP main sensor for incredible image and video quality, and a new 48 MP ultrawide camera for stunning...

The cameras are a big highlight. There’s a set of four on the back, all 50MP: one main wide lens, an ultrawide, a 3x zoom, and a 6x zoom so you can get close-up shots without them getting blurry. Plus, there’s a 2MP spectral sensor, which could help colors pop or help in dim light. The front camera is a 32MP shooter for selfies. OPPO worked with Hasselblad to make the photos look amazing, with bright colors and pro-style quality, thanks to stuff like AI zoom and night mode.

The battery’s a hefty 6,100mAh and charges fast—100W wired gets it full in about 35 minutes, they say, and 50W wireless works too. It’s got IP68 and IP69 ratings, so it keeps out dust and can take water jets or submersion without trouble. It uses ColorOS 15 on Android 15, which brings smoother animations, AI tools like photo editing, and customization options.

This handset measures 8.78mm thick, weighs about 226g, and comes in colors like Hoshino Black, Moonlight White, and Morning Light. There’s a “Quick Button” just for the camera, handy for quick pics, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that unlocks it fast and well. The fanciest 1TB version even has satellite connection, which is unusual and great for chatting when you’re off the grid.

As for pricing, it starts at around $900 for the 12GB/256GB version and goes up to $1,100 for the 16GB/1TB model with satellite technology. Put simply, Find X8 Ultra is a high-end phone, going up against big names like the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, especially with its cameras and speed.
I’m using the Oppo Find X8 Pro and before today, I thought there is no way things can get any better than this. Chinese phones like the Vivo X200, Honor Magic 7, Oppo Find X8/N5, are way ahead of iPhones and Samsungs in every aspect and with this X8 Ultra, the bar truly has been raised even higher. I would be very disappointed if Samsung would continue to be lazy and release a S26 Ultra thats only slightly updated from the S25 Ultra, but I wouldn’t be surprised,” said one commenter.
