Giant Magellan Telescope

The Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) is a ground-based large telescope planned for completion in 2025, and it consists of seven 8.4 m (27.6 ft) diameter primary segments that will observe optical and near infrared light, with the resolving power of a 24.5 m (80.4 ft) primary mirror and collecting area equivalent to a 22.0 m (72.2 ft) one. The telescope is expected to have the resolving power 10 times greater than the Hubble Space Telescope, and will be the largest optical observatory in the world, at the time of its first light. Museum of the Moon

Your eyes aren’t playing tricks, a giant moon installation by artist Luke Jerram is making its way around the world. Officially called “The Museum of the Moon,” it’s basically a 1:500,000 model of Earth’s natural satellite, complete with a detailed surface handcrafted using images from NASA. At its peak in 2004, Blockbuster employed 84,300 people worldwide, including about 58,500 in the United States and about 25,800 in other countries, and had 9,094 stores in total, with more than 4,500 of these in the US. However, by January 2018, the company’s website listed nine remaining franchise-owned stores in the U.S., including six in Alaska, two in Oregon, and one in Texas. In August 2018, eight of those nine had closed, leaving only one store in Bend, Oregon. That one store still offers options that Netflix and other streaming services don’t, as The Verge investigates.

Austin Mittelstadt managed to capture a glimpse of the upcoming GoPro Hero 7 camera, which is set to be officially unveiled later this month. No technical specifications have been announced, but from the display we can see that it will come in three different models: white, silver, and black.
