Capcom’s Street Fighter is returning to theaters on October 16, 2026 in live-action form, thanks to Legendary and Paramount Pictures, and the cast is incredible to say the least.
Ryu and Ken are the franchise’s main characters and are played by Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo respectively. Koji, best known for his role in Warrior, brings a groundedness to Ryu, the wandering warrior seeking mastery through combat. Centineo, the lovable guy from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, really gets into Ken’s all-American fire. They’re the dynamic duo of the story: two fighters chosen by Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, for the World Warrior Tournament. Liang’s Chun-Li, a symbol of strength and beauty, seems to be the anchor of the film with her mystery.

Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, a WWE superstar, faces off against Akuma, the demonic martial artist with a fiery mane. David Dastmalchian plays the dictator M. Bison, while Cody Rhodes, another wrestling star, puts on Guile’s military boots with the iconic flat-top. Jason Momoa tackles Blanka, the electrifying beast, and Orville Peck’s Vega brings a colorful flair to the claw-wielding matador. Vidyut Jammwal’s Dhalsim, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s Balrog and Olivier Richters’ Zangief round out the roster that looks like a character select screen come to life. Lesser known names like Hirooki Goto as E. Honda and Rayna Vallandingham as Juli add depth and imply the film won’t skimp on the game’s vast universe.

Kitao Sakurai, director of Bad Trip, wants to take the film in a direction different from the 1994 Street Fighter, which went full camp with Jean-Claude Van Damme. Set in 1993, it’s tapping into the raw energy of the arcade era. The choice to set the story in that time period is a smart nod to the game’s peak but it also raises questions. Will the movie go full retro with the costumes and soundtracks or will it use the time period to explore the characters’ origins in a way that feels relevant today?
