New multi-input sensing technology allows users to interact with a system using more than one finger simultaneously. A 36″x27″ rear-projected screen with sensing resolution greater than 0.1″ at 50Hz is shown in the video clip above.

By using an infared laser that pulses off several reflectors to create 100 dots of plasma per second, the Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology was able to create a true three dimensional display.

Sharp and Vodafone have just unveiled a new ultra high-resolution LCD display for mobile devices. This 2.4-inch display will feature 640 X 480 resolution which is 4 times that of current QVGA screens (240 X 320). It will make its debut at “3GSM World Congress 2006” which begins on February 13th. The Moobella doesn’t impress with its looks, but it’s a robotic ice cream vending machine that delivers “right on the spot” ice cream when you want. Choose from twelve different ice cream flavors and throw in three mix-ins which include M&M’s, chocolate chips, peanut butter cups, and more. This machine is Linux-powered and has “distributed management”. Currently, it’s being showcased at “Demo”.

This tiny 1.72″ Super-Reflective (SR) TFT-LCD display was just announced by Samsung this morning. Having three times the reflectance rate of traditional qqVGA displays, it features 100nit brightness, 220:1/30:1 (transmission/reflection), and 50% color saturation. To conserve power, Samsung has decided to integrate transflective technology over transmissive which would require 300nit brightness to improve outdoor visibility.
“Our new super-reflectance technology allows us to offer consumers a high-quality LCD that is very easy to read in bright sunlight. The SR technology has improved the reflecting metal, the color filter and other parts of the assembled LCD module, in addition to the lens and reflectance rate, without increasing production costs or lowering yields.”

The Louis Vuitton Classic Ipod Cover by Takashi Murakami features peach natural calf leather lining, golden brass pieces, and a multicolor canvas.
