Based on the MT Framework engine, Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds “uses a simplified, three-button control scheme of undefined low, medium, and high attacks modeled after Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, which Capcom believes will ‘knock down the wall of complicated controls and open up the field of strategic fighting to all comers'”. Is it fun? Yes. Hardcore fighting fans will probably stick with Street Fighter IV, and might even scoff at this one a little bit as being a little too forgiving and easy. But Marvel vs. Capcom is about pitting superheroes and fighters against each other in a spectacle of combos and flashy moves, and the new iteration does that impressively well so far.

Developed by Evolution Studios, MotorStorm: Apocalypse has a new 3D mode that reportedly “maintains a steady 30fps framerate,” according to gamers who have played the demo. It’s slated for release in Q1 2011 on the PlayStation 3. Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The third MotorStorm game for PS3 has been in development for two years and its 3-D component for half that time. What has changed is a single-player Festival mode with deeper narrative elements.

EA’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught mode will be released on the PlayStation Network today, priced at $10. This mode adds “up to four-player co-op to EA’s latest military shooter, pitting human-folk against opposing A.I. foes in a rush to complete four different maps as quickly as possible.” Trailer after the break. Unlike its predecessors, Kojima Productions‘ “Shigenobu Matsuyama notes that development is focused less on stealth and more on swordfighting action, giving players the opportunity to engage enemies in direct battle if they wish.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Players will still have a degree of freedom to play the game as a stealth title, though the stealth sequences will emphasize Raiden’s considerable speed and agility.

During Sony’s E3 press conference yesterday, SCEA announced that “Twisted Metal would be hitting the PlayStation 3 exclusively next year, and proceeded to show the audience a first glimpse at the pre-alpha gameplay.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Twisted Metal will make its long-awaited return in 2011, bringing a host of new car combat match types and twisted, over-the-top crash-and-burn action…The game will feature flying vehicles for the first time.

The PlayStation Network will soon be getting a big upgrade, in the form of PlayStation Plus. While subscribers who want the premium service will have to shell out $49/yearly (or $18 for 3-months), it offers exclusive in-game downloadable content, early access to betas, full game downloads, and auto-installing updates as well as patches. PlayStation Plus will be launched later this month. Video after the break.

Not the first time the PlayStation Network has gone down, today’s outage was actually a scheduled one that started at 8am – 830am PST, and will last for several hours. However, “Netflix streaming is still a go so queue up 3:10 to Yuma and give that tired horse a break.”

During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store or Account Management, and may encounter some difficulty while signing in to PSN.
