SEGA Genesis fans, dust off your cartridges and brace for a revelation. The Megaswitch HD, created by developer Stanislav Parhomovich, is a game-changer for the 16-bit console that defined so many childhoods. This internal HDMI mod transforms the Genesis (or Mega Drive, depending on your region) into a modern marvel, delivering crisp 1080p video output without sacrificing the nostalgic soul of the original hardware.

8BitMods’ VMU Pro is a cool update to the SEGA Dreamcast’s original VMU, turning it into a versatile gadget that doesn’t just save game progress but also plays old-school 8-bit games from systems like the Game Boy Color, NES, and Master System on a vivid 16-bit color IPS TFT screen.

SEGA’s OutRun is getting an unofficial Game Boy Color version, created by indie developer Shane McCafferty. Bringing a game like OutRun, a 1986 arcade title with advanced Super Scaler graphics for its time, to the Game Boy Color—a handheld with limited hardware—takes smart optimization and creative solutions.

The rumors are true, Michael Bay is attached to direct a live-action film adaptation of OutRun for Universal Pictures, based on SEGA’s 1986 video game of the same name. Sydney Sweeney is also on board as a producer, alongside Bay and his Platinum Dunes partner Brad Fuller, with SEGA’s Toru Nakahara producing and Shuji Utsumi overseeing for SEGA.

This SEGA Dreamcast port (DCA3) of Grand Theft Auto Vice City is a fan-made, unofficial project that utilizes reverse-engineered source code from the RE3 project. The latter is essentially a decompilation of the original RenderWare engine used in both GTA III and Vice City.

Many have seen the first trailer, but now, fans can download a new playable demo of the much anticipated Sonic Adventure 2 Unreal Engine 5 remake. Officially called ‘Sonic Adventure 2 Redux’, this remake uses a custom branch of the Velocity+ engine called the Azure Framework. This overhauls the physics, camera, controls, and UI, aiming to blend the classic Sonic Adventure 2 feel with a smoother, more modern experience.

It’s not a Divers 2000 CX-1 TV, but this custom-built SEGA Dreamcast portable is actually something you can buy. Aesthetically, it looks just like an original Dreamcast controller, but with a 4.3-inch LCD screen and an integrated VMU memory card.

If SEGA released a Sonic the Hedgehog game for the original Game Boy in 1991, this is what it would look like. Gamers may already know that an official port was released in 2006 on the Game Boy Advance, but this fan game takes nostalgia to a whole new level.

This fan Sonic Adventure 2 remake in Unreal Engine 5 is just about ready for another playable demo, but for now, its developers teased a new Green Forest gameplay video that showcases the stunning visuals. SEGA originally released this game on June 19, 2001 in North America, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Sonic franchise, exclusively on the Dreamcast.
