Hennessey Special Vehicles just pulled the covers off its third hypercar, and this one plays by a very different set of rules. Named Blackbird and shaped by the Lockheed SR-71 spy plane that once owned the skies, the new car skips turbos, hybrids, and digital screens in favor of a high-revving American V8 and a gated six-speed stick. Production is capped at 71 examples, each starting at $2.5 million before taxes, with customer deliveries planned for 2029 and 2030 once Venom F5 production winds down.

Claudio Zampolli spent years fixing other people’s dreams in Los Angeles before deciding to build his own. A former Lamborghini test driver and development engineer, he wanted something that would make the Countach look ordinary. He found a partner in Giorgio Moroder, the three-time Academy Award-winning composer behind some of the biggest disco and film scores of the era. Together they put their names on a car that carried both: the Cizeta-Moroder V16T. Chassis 001 is the only one that ever wore both names at once. In two weeks it heads to RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction with an estimate between $1.4 million and $1.8 million.

McLaren 788HS Showcases a Focused Finish to V8 Supercar History

The Goodwood Festival of Speed sets the stage for McLaren’s next release, the 788HS, which is promoted as the final iteration of a mid-engine V8 supercar line that began with the 720S in 2017 and has since included the 765LT and 750S. The 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 delivers 777 horsepower, a 37-horsepower improvement from the 750S. Not that it counts, but the torque remains at 590 pound-feet, and the engine continues to spin at 8500 rpm.
