Volvo has long been the gold standard for automotive safety, the company that gave the world the three-point seatbelt in 1959, a design so effective it’s estimated to have saved over a million lives. Now, with the upcoming all-electric Volvo EX60 set to launch in 2026, the Swedish automaker is reinventing the seatbelt once again. This time, it’s not just a strap—it’s a multi-adaptive safety belt that uses real-time data to tailor protection to each occupant and every crash scenario.
While not as novel as the T6 roadster, the new Volvo ES90 is far more practical. The lineup includes a Single Motor Extended Range variant making 328 hp, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds, while the 443 hp Twin Motor model offers a bit more performance.
Sleek and futuristic, the Volvo EM90 minivan was designed to be a comfortable living room on the road. It’s powered by a rear-mounted electric motor generating 268 hp, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 8.3 seconds, which is quite respectable considering that it weighs 6,091 pounds.
Officially unveiled in Milan, the Volvo EX30 is the company’s first small premium electric SUV and available to order. The Single Motor Extended Range base model has a single, rear-mounted motor generating 268 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, connected to a 69 kWh NMC battery that is good for 275-miles on a full charge. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.1-seconds and charge from 10% – 80% in around 26.5-minutes.
This custom six-wheeled Volvo XC60 pickup truck conversion isn’t something you see everyday, much less at a Stockholm Cruising car meet in Sweden. What makes it so special aside from the extra wheels? Well, it comes from the factory as an SUV with B5, B6, and T8 powertrains, all of which are powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine as well as a 48-volt hybrid system.
The future of Volvo is all-electric, and Concept Recharge showcases some of the design language as well as technologies that future models will have. By removing the standard engine has with a full battery pack under the flat floor, the designers have extended the wheelbase and the wheel size of the car. This equates to shorter overhangs, as well as a lot more interior space including a large storage area between the front seats.
