While the Nintendo Wii can only run games at 480p, this emulator (Dolphin-x64-r4628) shows what New Super Mario Bros. looks like in 1080p — “settings were at 1080p 4AA 16AF DX9 mode.” Video after the break.
The footage has some obvious audio hiccups and the video freezes at 1:10 until 1:18. Beautiful nonetheless.

A gamer managed to created Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 in NSMB Wii, despite the game having just been released 72-hours prior. However, it “might be played through a Wii/GameCube emulator, not on the console itself.” Video after the break.
There are a few flaws in the re-creation – how many can you spot? Mario doesn’t go into the subterranean coin chamber, but that doesn’t mean it exists.
