5 Minute Mario Bros Speed Run

This just might be the fastest Super Mario Bros. speed run we've ever come across at 5:04 minutes. Video clip after the jump.
The craziest thing? The guy spends most of the time jumping Mario backwards. This must be some crazy speedrunning trick we know nothing about. He also manages to glitch his way through a few warp walls to shave off some time.

Yeah not to convinced on this. I do appologise if this is all legit and real but on he did hit alot of things that would kill him..... Mainly on the last level he swam through fire and a squid/octopus thing

I have tryed the backwards jump and it doesn't work at all unless I am not doing it well. He also goes through stuff without any damage. I say it's a fake but very nicely made.

Not to mention the fact the the clock is going by too fast, the numbers count down much too quickly.

its not real.. plenty of areas he goes through enemies and you cant do any sort of backwards jump, and yeah, the timer if going to fast. he faked this one, and not even well.

Go play SMB on the NES and jump backwards, because you can. As for the timer, it could be an emulator with the FPS turned up. But no doubt, very well played.

Actually guys, if you go back and play it you will realize that yall are wrong. I am not saying that it isnt a fake, but, first off the time really does go that fast on the regular game. Secondly, you can do the backwards jump and stuff like that. Thirdly, you can do the jump over the pirahna plants thing and not get hurt, because I have done it. And lastly, I dont know if he did this, but you can do a wall jump in that game, it is very difficult and it is a glitch, but you can do it.

The backward jump seems to prote3ct him. It can be done on modified controllers.

notice around the 1:56 mark, he goes through a pipe, the next scene he just shows up in some random mushroom world without coming out of a pipe!

It's not fake. If you notice the black shelled creatures, that signifies that he's beaten the game once and that he's playing it over again. The timer is accurate. Very well played; I knew all of the cheats except the one that lets you skip to level 4. I remember playing it when I was 10 and beating it within 15-20 minutes.

Also, that backwards jump isn't something some "speedrunning trick we know nothing about." I did that all the time; all you do is hold B, run and jump like normal, then tap the left button for him to change positions in midair. Furthermore, it isn't a glitch. It's an actual cheat (among more than fifty) in the game.

why cant i see the video?? and bunch of other new posts video isnt work for me either.. i've tried with two different comupters now.. both Mac and PC

SMB1 has some real clipping issues with mario, hence why it seems like he should die often. This speed run could very easily be legit, and some of these glitches that are exploited, I can do (although not at the speed -- this is insane).

its not fake, its all legit, the backward jump anables you to bounce of things. as for the 1:56 mark, its the mushroom world that is ontop of the vine just before that pipe, so to go to the pipe, he would actually loose time so it wouldnt be worth hacking

I'm sorry but there is no way that this is real. Did you see how many times that he got hit by the enemies? The speed is good yes, and I will have to look into this backwards jump thing!

We're talking SMB1, people. They didn't make the game so that you'd die every time you grazed the edge of an enemy. It's buggy enough that you can do that without dying.
