DS Lites Cracking?

Several MaxConsole forum members have reported that their DS Lites have been cracking at the hinge.
I treated my DS lite like a baby, heck I even used a Nintendo brand case. I called Nintendo about 3 days ago and the rep said he won't take it back because the warranty does not cover cracks and the guy said it must have been my fault and he could have it repaired for $50 (because its still under warranty). I grumbled to him and finally said I'd live with it

Thats because nintendo portables suck and always will. Get a PSP and dont waste your money.

uhh psp user leave for nds cause of forceful firmware upgrade, on top of that the library of games for psp is currently lacking after all this time. also with nds, it is very durable. of course psp is superior on graphic but the nds is more user friendly. i had my ds lite the day it came out and have no problem so far. I favor neither, but only point out pros of nds cause you annoyed me with your bias opinion jim. hell you think it sucks doesn't mean the other have to agree.

lol*Imagine a world wide recall due to that crack because that causes some major s*** go wrong in your all the DSs in this bloody world. So I say, F*** the DS!!*lol Treat your self with a PSP.v1.5

I have the reguler DS and I try to treat mine good but sometimes at lan partys or other gamer gatherings it has been dropped and it barly has a scratch. Jim im no nintendo fanboy. Far from it but the PSP isnt all that great. Its mostly all ps2 ports.

Omg, I also have the DS Lite, and i havn't seen any cracking on my DS. Thats probably because I barely take this thing out of the house haha.. And for all you "GET THE PSP" commenters.. Please, this was an informational blog to us DS Lite users. If you could read, which you probably can't, it doesn't say anywhere to post your opinion about your DS. Just please, if you want to post your opinions on the PSP. Go find a PSP Rules blog.

Nintendo portables have been the single biggest selling portable in the world since their inception. From the Gameboy to the DS, they have ALWAYS been the system to have. People are still lining up DAYS IN ADVANCE to get the DS Lite over here in Japan. The US is selling out of their systems, although it is still possible to buy it at a lot of stores. I remember when I got my Sega GameGear. Sure it had a COUPLE of decent games, but it never even COMPARED to the Gameboy. It was a high-tech system that just never cut it. I also don't see any shortages for the PSP, and never did.

A few comentators said the DS Lite was styled from Apple cues. Well, now it really is an Apple product: bland, white plastic with crap build quality out of cheap materials - style over form and content. Jobsy would be proud.

there's only one solution to get this defect fixed (if it IS widespread) without paying, and that is to bitch about it till Nintendo agrees to fix the faulty DSes for free

Arnt PSP's well known for there screens cracking? Hey i got a hinge crack on my DS but that was only after my kid kicked it off the sofa onto the fireplace tiles, i doubt that a PSP could suvive that! Just compare the stress tests!

How can you say a ds lite is better when a 1.5 psp? it can do everything a ds can plus more. Even play Nintendo 64 games! And with the new mod chip you can have all the features of a 2.71 and a 1.5! The only reason anyone would say a DS is better is just uneducated on the psp capabilities.

Yeah they totally suck, hardlt sold any ever and noone ever wanted a game boy. Some people are a little insecure about their own purcahse so think if they go on the net and have a go at the competitors they'll feel better about it. Back to the point, I have a Jap DS lite couple of incidents where it's had an impact but no damage! Girlfriends one is the same, but she takes better care of hers!

two reasons i didn't get a psp, umd's, and price, why pay more for something that doesn't offer more for the money, if i wanted to watch movies and play mp3's i'd buy a portible media player, i just wanna play good games, something psp doesn't have.

the cracked hings is probably not the worst compared to what happened to Xbox and sony..sony got sued one time didnt they? for using another companys ideas? so..anyway..i just sent me DS lite in..free of charge.. tho the cracked hing is sorta annoying.. and i hope it wont happen agian..its not the worst thing that can happen.. and Nintendos never had any gameplay problems or overheating or anything..cuz they spend more time on there games and stuff..so..oviosly nintendo.. is very good company and even tho they arent really into getting there products out first..just shows how much there dedicatad..and they havnt had very many things go wrong..like othere Companys.. and to me.. that shows that there the best to me it doesn matter if there the first in line.. the last guy always wins..or..ermm alteast there nice too..
