As many of you may already know, Apple discontinued its iSight accessory last month, and because of that, many stores are sold out. So yes, a new iSight actually sold for a whoping $610.00 on eBay. Auction page. For those who haven't already seen, check out the iSight "Get a Mac" ad after the jump.
iSight was designed for iChat AV, Apple's video-conferencing client. iMovie (version 4 and later) can be used to capture video from the device. iSight's ¼-inch color CCD sensor has a 640×480-pixel VGA resolution, and it has a custom-designed three-part F/2.8 lens with two aspherical elements

For those looking to spend a bit LESS than $610 for a Mac webcam, it should be pointed out that a few of the newest Logitech QuickCams now are UVD (USB Video Device) compliant and work without drivers in OS X 10.4.8. For instance, I picked up a Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro (with Made for Vista markings on the front) in downtown Taipei yesterday and found it works. I'm still working out some kinks--iChat seems to be wonky with "Camera is in use by another application" occasionally and PhotoBooth does some strange things. But otherwise, the quality is quite good. I haven't gotten brave enough to check out the OEM $10 cams, but I figure that some of them have to be UVD. Check out the supported cams page at the Macam site for more info: http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/cameras/index.php

I wish I'd bought up a few dozen to pay for a new MacPro
