Feature: CG Tech Demo Shows Next-Generation Destruction

Extreme Loading

Tired of the unrealistic destruction animations found in many "next-gen" games? Then "Extreme Loading" simulation technology may be just what you need. Continue reading for an overview and video.

Overview

Using particle-based tools, the "Extreme Loading" technology "generates iterative visuals with the added realism of material based physics." According to the developer, it "can be used to design a destructible set -- simulations can be run long before the set is built -- and the resulting 3D files can be brought into Maya or comparable package for dressing and compositing."

all real nice but destroying a visual model isn't all you have to do in a game you have the visual model the collision model and most of the times also complex textures. now lets say you blow up a wall. than you would also want to see burn marks now this also have to be calculated and so i can go on and on. its still some time away lets say 3 to 4 years until you will see this kind of physics.
