Slow electric cars are a thing of the past, as future models — such as the Wrightspeed X1 — are faster than some of today’s supercars. Continue reading to see them all.

Wrightspeed X1

Wrightspeed’s X1 — based on the Ariel Atom — is claimed to be the world’s fastest electric car, boasting a 3-phase AC induction motor with 236hp and 182 ft lbs torque at the motor shaft. The X1 has an incredible 13,300 rpm rev limit and goes from 0-60 in just 3 seconds. Watch it race a Ferrari 360 Modena and Porsche Carrera GT.

The X1’s lithium batteries give it a 150 mile range. It can hit 60 mph in just 3 seconds — that’s faster than just about anything out there, less the $1.3 million Bugatti Veyron.
