Fifth Gear: $500,000 Venturi Fetish

Fifth Gear's Jason Plato takes the $500,000 electic-powered Venturi Fetish out for a road test. Video after the jump.
The car's acceleration is comparable to a normal internal combustion engined sports car, producing approximately 300 horsepower (180 kW) at peak output, with a 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) time of 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is less comparable however, at 170 km/h (105 mph), which is respectable considering that it only has one gear. It runs at a constant translation of 9.58 : 1, with a torque of 220 Nm

[...] Think all electric-only cars are slow, ugly, and have limited range? Think again. The new Fetish from French manufacturer Venturi looks and drives like a futuristic sports car, accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds, though its top speed is only 105mph. It runs at a constant translation of 9.58:1, with a torque of 220Nm, and has only one gear. The electric motor also delivers 300hp which, unlike with an internal combustion engine, is available at all speeds, and has a range of up to 217 miles. There are only two problems with this car: first, there are only 25 being made, and second, they cost $575,000 each. If you’ve got the loot, better place your order quick. — Mike Payne (via TechEBlog) [...]
