First Look: PlayStation 3 Web Browser

Gizmodo gives us a first look at the PlayStation 3's web browser interface, which fortunately is compatible with the plug-in USB keyboard accessory. Video after the jump.
Typing URLs with the controller is somewhat clunky as you can see from the video itself, but otherwise it'll let you open up to 6 different browser windows simultaneously and then tile them (Expose style) so you can see them all at once

Actually it was SEGA's idea on the Dreamcast, and it worked pretty damn well.

hey Bezilon, or Fanboy as you may say..Nintendo didnt patent sh**, nothing was their idea. The Controller??? no, I've played VR games JUST like that when i was in 6th grade at 6-flags. What about the PSP buddy? It has web browser. Have fun with ur kiddy system. Wii will do fine, but u cant compare it to Sonys PS3. Its like comparing my Custom built PC (total over 2K) to a Emachine, its not the same thing.

And Nintendo copied other companies, what's your point Bezilon? BTW if PS3 was actually copying the Wii, I would think they would have a similar system of payment. Wii's browser is free until Jun 3 2007 link

(PS3 60gig owner) Ok here is the thing while having a browser in a gamin system might not be the most original Idea atleast sony is keeping theirs free. Nintendo did not come up with the idea first it was dreamcast as earlier posted. Before you chastise any one for having a browswer why not come down on the way the browser is done. The PS3 has a browser with expose where WII has a custome version of opera that works by tabs. Sony's browser can be manipulated with any usb mouse and keyboard trust me I tried it with my old PS2 keyboard from game shark. an apple might mouse and a wacom drawing tablet. Nintendo on the other hand is not compat with any usb devices. The PS3's browser is entirely menu driven short of navigating the page. The will lets you point and click as if it where a normall browser. THe PS3's browser is also incompatible with some web pages while the WII's comes from Opera which is compat with just about everything and its mother. The PS3's can be manipulated by the psp. This retarded feature has yet to be coppied by nintendo. (Sony should have not wasted time with remote play and instead maybe gotten a better browser) In the end while sony might have a more powerfull browser. The WII's is much more robust and easy to use than the PS3's. Either way they are both ripping the Idea from the Dreamcast which had this power from the begining

bob its not like comparing yous pc to an emachine cuz your pc is clearly better in all aspects bt wii IS better in SOME aspects and the ps3 is better in some in games wii is a lot better and that is the important thing for me all u get in a ps3 FOR NOW anyways is resitance and a demo thats it
