"Kipkay" shows us how to change traffic lights with just a few clicks of the crosswalk button. For those who've tried this, does it work? Video after the jump.
By the time it takes to enter that code, the lights will have changed anyway!

...while you are trying to remember the shot, press the button the right times, watch the light...it takes so much time that it's obvious that it turns green :P

I wait for green light here in Sweden. I do not want to look like a fool and press the button 11 times if it is a fake or just to cross a street.
The button press a compination thing almost take longer time and is much more work than just wait :-D

Most of the "How to " videos on MetaCafe are fake (like the one purporting to show how to generate electricity with a pair of candles). People are exploiting the fact that MetaCafe pays based on how many people view a video.

Considering that alot of crosswalk buttons are 'fake' and not connected to any circuitry in the first place, and are only placed there as stress relievers. I say 'fake' on this as well.

I hear this only works with lights that have audio for blind.

The buttons are connected to circuitry though they rarely speed up the light switch. All they do is tell the light that someone is crossing the street. At the next light change the lights stay changed longer to let the people cross the street without having to run.

I work for a DOT and there is no such thing. The same as Google TV Beta and extend your WIFI with your cell phone and then add a "Dish" a bowl with tin foil. I love a good joke but someone needs to know when to say when, and this guy needs to be banished from the internet!

[...] Someone claims that certain signal hardware can be forced to change phase by activating the pedestrian pushbutton in a specific manner. I’ll have to try it out and see. Thanks to Kristin for sending this to me. Hi Kristin! [...]

The light turns orange after he's done and then it turns red. Get your eyes checked, dumbass.

I tried this on a legit crosswalk that dosen't change unless a car is waiting (motion sensor) or someone presses the button.
It just dosen't work. End of story. You can't prove me wrong I tried this on more than one crosswalk in Toronto. Tried it many times to make sure. I can sleep soundly knowing that I have proven this wrong lol.
It seriously takes at least 5 minutes for the crosswalk to change when the button is pressed cause I have to cross a small street intersecting a very busy street.
