How to: Hack a Vending Machine?

"W.e" shows us how to hack "snack vending machines with this simple video, for educational purposes only -- or if the machine ate your money the first time around." For those who've actually tried this, does it work? Coke machine guide here. Clip after the jump.

i dont see how this would work...the machine doesnt give money back based on if the product fell...its just...a bunch of turns and if it doesnt fall....sucks for you...haha...i might have to try....i mean...yah...cool video

THis probably only works on machines that have the product drop sensor above the door. THese new machines have led's that sense when the product has dropped down into the tray. If you hold the door closed and the bag blocks the sensor, that probably confuses it into thinking the product didn't dispense.

Looks fake when he pushed to get his money back. He could of put the quarters there before. Would not see how this is possible. The sensor just sees is something passes it if it does then you got your food, Ill try it any how

Who's to say he didn't put the quarters in the return change drop box himself before he even started filming???

Tested. I can confirm the machine needs the LED eye for this to work.

Ok, It is fake 100%. I have a machine here with a sensor if you hold up the door and lets say you dp trick the sensor the sensor would trip and would not give you b back your money. No machine gives back money, unless you push the button before you select something. If you do somehow mess the sensor up, the selection rack will keep spinning but WILL NOT give you back the money

Yea, hasta be fake. Theres no sound to the coins coming back for the "refund"... but you can clearly hear the sounds of the coins dropping for change. ...sigh, i'm going to try it anyway at work at some point :p

It does look really cool, but however it IS a fake, nowadays vending machines will return the dollar you put in, and there WASN'T any sound of the quarters dropping.

ok I know how to really get free stuff from this kind of machine........it takes some force but it works ok you know the black plastic panel just above the numbers (It ussually says "accepts $1, 5$ bills etc".......well push the middle of it as hard as you can (a punch or two may work) then hopefully the display will come up with either error or a bunch of ####'s when that comes up type what you want and walla! I haven't tried it recently, but our school one used to be busted like this....

Well, I guess, I might depends on some vending machine. Some may be older then the other. So it may be different. I wouldn't say this is a fake though.

How many times have you paid for chips, only to have them get stuck in the rack's dispenser mechanism? Nothing falls at all, and of course you don't get a refund. Total fake!!

I just tried this at work and i dont think its real. The machine i tried it on is similar at the same time my item fell the change came out so theres not much time to hit return.

As stated ealier....“W.e” shows us how to hack “snack vending machines with this simple video, for educational purposes only — or if the machine ate your money the first time around.”........Its just cool to know these things, not to say we will use them to get free snacks every day. Just because you have a gun doesnt mean you will shoot someone evry day. You only have it, just in case you need it(AKA:If the machine takes my money).
