Metal Gear Solid 4 Real-Time Demo

Hideo Kojima uses a devkit and MGS 4 to show off the PS3's graphical power. Watch after the jump.
Anyone in denial about the real-time nature of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer should watch this older, but recently YouTubed video demonstrating the attention to detail and graphical clarity of the MGS4 engine.

can i just say... holy @#$*,,,, this is so freakin amazing. just seeing the amount of detail has made me think 2ce about my xbox.

The japanese are freaking gay when they talk. the damn lady keep saying Hike!! hike hike....yes...yes...yes...like a thousand time. Then Otacon show up and she say "Otacon has appeared"...WTF.... I hate them.

ok none of that was ingame footage that was just a a view of cinema and viewing of a static model ingame what crap this wasnt a playable demo whatsoever in the sense of a playable demo level or something

Dave said "ok none of that was ingame footage" Umm... looks like in-game footage to me. It was obviously not production in-game footage, but it was definitly pre-production. If it were a cinema cut-scene, they wouldnt be rotating the camera, zooming, etc

that's awesome, they took 3d modeling tech and placed it ingame. Sometime the view in perspective is much better than what's about to be rendered. (maya oriented)

ok they were not playing the game in that video, come on you could not realy play like this( except maybe push some buttons like r.e.4 cut schenes).You could not play from a 'movie' point of view because there are millions points, but this was from the games cut schenes. And from a technical -or eye candy- view the power of the machine and especially the effort of the programers was absolutely outstanding...

Unless it was built like Fahrenheit, there is no way to play it like that. But the graphics look awesome - too bad it will never get onto the PC.

Ok. Anyone out there who need clarification, look here: There is a difference between "real-time" and "game play." When they say real-time, they mean that this is proof of the fact that the MGS4 trailer was a real-time 3d graphics presentation rendering from the PS3, and not a prerendered CG film. No one (no idiots, at least) is saying that this is during "game play." Anyone who's ever played a Metal Gear game (of the Solid Saga, in 3D graphics) knows that these games contain hours and hours of in-game movies using MGS's real-time graphics engine, not pre-rendered footage. So, suffice it to say that from this video and previous knowledge of the MGS saga, you can assume that it represents both what the PS3's real-time graphics will look like in both cut-scenes and gameplay in MGS4. Also, to whoever asked, I believe I heard somewhere that MGS4 could POSSIBLY come to the Xbox 360. I have my doubts about that, and I can't remember where/when I read that, so take it with a grain of salt.

And by the way, Dave: Are you so thick that you don't know what a "tech DEMO" is? "Demo" stands for "demonstration", buddy. It doesn't always mean "FREEGAMEFORDAVEWOOHOOOO!!!!"
