PlayStation 4 by 2010?

Paul Holman (Sony's VP of Technology) claims that "a PS4 will be launched by Sony but not until at least 2010." Reason being, "Sony will introduce a series of firmware upgrades that will give the PS3 more media centre capability while allowing for the introduction of third party applications and hardware 'such as interactive controllers' similar to the Nintendo Wii he said."
"The PS3 has an awful lot of processing power and we will harness this power with firmware upgrades and new features. He also admitted that the PS3 will become as much a media centre for the home as it is a gaming machine and the introduction of new capabilities such as the ability to download third party operating systems to the PS3 will see several new capabilities added to the system. We have already seen one European Linux application running on the PS3 and over the next few months we know of several others that plan to launch a product for the PS3"

knew that already, PS come out a long time after each other and they expect PS3 to be longer, however I say 2011.

But Sony advertised the PS3 as being a ten year system. So I am going to be dissapointed in them if they come out with a PS4 earlier than 2016. That is just sad sony, resorting to lies.

A ten year system? I can't believe they said that, who would think a ten year system is possible (until we've achieved hardware that will do what we want, and further upgrading will be redundant graphically)

Geez you ppl always have to say bad things about sony but if it were a new nintendo product then you would say Oh what a great idea, Oh im gona buy one for sure, I can wait till it comes out If you dont like sony then just stfu and dont read anything about them

we just got introduced to the ps3 sony should take a chill pill and wait and see how ppl react to the ps3, cause if ppl dont like it than what are the chances that they would like a ps4???

But phase-change RAM is set to overtake flash entirely-it uses a chemical found in rewriteable discs, which is alternately heated anad cooled to store data. The result is memory that's 30 times faster than flash, with more than 10 times the life span. Samsung has a prototype and expects to be available by 2008.

Playstation 4 will be coming in 2011 not 2010 because sony dosent have the money... think about it sony is going to lose 1.7 billion dollars on PS3 so wait for 4 years until everything is setteled down then come out clean and fresh... I know for a fact that PS$ will come out first then XBOX 720.

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you serous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just bought a ps3 for $600 and now you say that in like 3-4 years they are goin to take it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I rather get a ps2, that will last up to 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that all of this hype is just pure speculation. I am going to wait until Sony provides irrefutable evidence that there will in fact be a Play station four in 2011.

What i think is that PS4 will come in 2010 but it won't be backward compatibale and will only play PS4 game. The system is going to cost you from $499.99 to $550.00.

The next generation after the playstation 3 and the XBOX 360, the graphic will be powerfull just like the unreal engin 4 which is like in the final fantasy movie...trust me!!
