PS3 Controller Spelling Mistake

Sony mistakingly spelled "select" as "serect" on this PlayStation 3 controller, located in their Ginza showroom. Here's what Kotaku editor Brian Ashcraft had to say:
Even though Sony's been batting fly balls of late, we're not going to poke fun. That would be rude. Spelling in a foreign language is hard, especially when it's an unusual word like "select".

Nintendo go 'select' right on the NES.... All sony does is copy nintendo stuff, so.... They are bad at copying too ? Pretty freakin funny if its found that Nintendo made the same mistake in a day or two :)

Honestly, I bet they just don't want to admit their mistake. I mean, they've made many many systems before the PS3, and they make some stupid excuse for a spelling error? Come on Sony, just admit your fault.

At least it didn't say "erect". James: If Sony just copies everything Nintendo does, then wouldn't they have a $200 or less next gen console (not to mention all the other differences)? People act like Sony is another one of those Chinese knock-off companies who makes a carbon copy of a console full of primative insides.

HA HA, you know thats just a translation error. When the asian speaking guy was giving the info to the creator, he meant to say "select" im sure but with his Japanese accent he really said "serect." Mitsubishi made the same mistake in the early 90's with their sports car, Starion. The company wanted the name Stallion. I find that hilarious.

Drew is right. In Japanese, select is written as "serekuto." Thus, the 'r.'

jesus christ its a simple error..nothing to be made into a big deal. It's happened to all consoles at one point..and spencer, girl right?, they did admit to their mistake, or it wouldn't even be on this page right now

Wow. One typo and the press is all over it. There were plenty games with bad translations anyway, and that's for these same companies. All of your base, anyone?

I'm going to buy a Sony Praystation. And I live and work in Japan as an english teacher. Of course if my students make that mistake I can forgive it, but when a billion dollar company like Sony makes that mistake it's just plain lazy.
