Sharp's 2-Way LCD Goes Portable

Sharp has now begun using its 2-way viewing LCD technology on mobile devices -- including in-car entertainment systems and notebooks. With a parallax barrier superimposed on a normal TFT-LCD, these displays can show different information simultaneously depending on the viewing angle. Videos after the jump.

If I knew these weren't going to be more expensive than my house, i'd wait and get one. That thing is insane cool. I couldn't imagine sitting in a rom and depending on what side of the room you were sitting on watching a totally different thing. Talk about multitasking.

This is quite sick... I like the idea of having it in-car, however, what about the people who end up sitting directly infront of the screen? That has got to suck then... Otherwise, it looks cool.

The first video is an aftermarket car navi system so the driver can see the directions and shotgun can watch tv or dvd, and it costs 3grand US.

2 way screens, surely if the angles are right they can make it so you see a different image in each eye.... 3d Monitors maybe???
