Mention the phrase "I love the PowerGlove, it's so bad" and the first thought that pops into many minds is "The Wizard" -- that 1989 gamer flick. Take a trip down memory lane with this memorable scene. Video clip after the jump.
Hahahahahaha!!! "I love the Powerglove... Its so bad!" Great! I never had one but a friend of mine had... That was really bad ass at the time... Technology couldnt get any better that that...

Nice, but it doesn't seem to help that he sucks at Rad Racer. What's up with that?

Wasn't Rad Racer the 3D sega master system game that you played with LCD 3D glasses? Also, is there an airplane taxi-ing outside their window in the middle of the clip?

I knew that girl looked familiar-- She's Jenny Lewis-- she she just (Jan. 2006) came out w/a CD -- she does kind of acoustic/indie stuff. Not bad, if you like that kind of thing. She was also the "mom" in the 'Such Great Heights' video by The Postal Service (who are amazing, by the way). Crazy. Gotta love Wikipedia!!
Oh, nice clip, too!

D'oh! Redundant comment. I didn't realize they scrolled up from the bottom instead of vice-versa. NM!

the tones when he hits the buttons are the tune from Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind. If you've not seen that movie, dammit kiddos, watch it

"Wasn’t Rad Racer the 3D sega master system game that you played with LCD 3D glasses?"
No, Rad Racer was NES only. I've seen the game you're thinking of but the name of it escapes me.

Having just moved I uncovered an old powerglove I bought back in 1994 or so to do some experimenting with "virtual reality" - back before the intraweb was so popular...

I loved that you could flip off Mike Tyson as you punched him in his own game. it was so risque for us at the time. Ahh 4th grade and simple joys.

The girl is indeed a singer, of the band Rilo Kiley. And of course that kid is Fred Savage, from the Wonder Years, who the hell didn't know that?

[...] I don't know if I'll like the Revolution as a system as much as I like it as an idea. Which isn't about the "hype" involved since most of the hype is coming from the press reporting it. I like the fact that Nintendo is actually trying something different. See, because unlike with the 64, Nintendo isn't trying to maintain dominance. In fact, if they were number one, this would be THE worst move they would try. Next to the Virtual Boy. But they're third in a race of 3 (I know, I know, there's the PC and internet and mobile gaming market, but I'm talking REAL gaming: CONSOLES, son) and instead of changing the game by developing more intuitive games, they're changing the game by changing the way you play it. I have to give them respect for that. But when I really think about it, Nintendo's history has been dotted with innovations and then "innovations". I mean, the powerglove was pretty cool. But the kid had it right. I too love the power glove. Because it is, indeed, so bad. But I think about a few nights ago when Kam was talking about how he liked games that were interactive like Time Crisis and Guitar Hero (but really, who doesn't like those games after playing it…other than Communi..I mean terrorists!) and it gives me hope that Nintendo might be on to something with trying to woo the surprisingly large casual gamer crowd. There's always hope. [...]

That is a trip cause I think about that movie every once in a while, x-entertainment did a review of that movie if you want to know. I have always wanted to get one of those gloves even though I have heard they are frustrating and buggy. Still want one.

There is a song by HORSE the band called "Cutsman" that uses the "I love the powerglove; its so bad" clip. Plus the song is about the megaman boss Cutman so its a win/win
