Transparent Toaster Concept

This innovative "Transparent Toaster" concept uses special heating glass to warm a single slice of bread. Unfortunately, the glass does not reach a high enough temperature -- at this time -- to actually toast the bread. No word yet on if this concept will go into production.

"Unforunately, the glass does not reach a high enough temperature — at this time — to actually toast the bread." Eh, so what's the point of it then? Lol...

Haha one minor flaw - it doesn't toast. Oh well, nice idea.

it's a CONCEPT which mean's idea

it's a really good idea. if it's actually put into production, I would buy one.

One word, CLEANING! I have seen the inside of toasters and they are not pretty.

What a pain in the A$$ thing to clean, plus who the h^ll wants to watch their toast cook. I just see a lawsuit with some retard burning himself on the glass.

u people dont know what the word "concept" means.. if it was out, i would buy one just for the looks, and cleaning.. u can probably slide/snap the glass right out.. how easy? i have an idea.. maybe they should insert some kind of metal in or close to the edge of the glass (around) and then have the bottom netal touch the metal of the base. snap it right off to clean, snap it right on to use =D

that's it.. the concept is almost done.. all you have to do is print metal in a pattern where bread would sit, but make it semi transparent. that part of metal would heat up to high enough temps, and glass would be able to withstand it, just like those electric stoves that don't burn hands but, burn everything else

WoW basically good for nothing considering how big modern American families are nowadays...I would however like to use that for heating my towels while im in the shower.

Seems that getting the bread in and toast out might be a bit tricky in this design.

One benefit I see is being able to see how done your toast is! No more burning or unncessary popping to see if it's done yet! You can just glance over and say "oh it's almost done".

Nice idea. Since nobody can work out how to make a toast shade button work consistently, being able to see how burned it's getting will be handy.

re. "u people dont know what the word “concept” means.." Some people don't know what the word "toaster" means.

Forget the toaser, make a front windshield defroster out of that thing. Remote start my car in the winter and I'm ready to go in 10 minutes.

This is be considered as one of the coolest-gadgets! Imagine starring at the change in colour and texture of the bread, over the transparent panel. How interesting :)
18
Cool idea, it looks really sweet!

Wouldn't you just get hot soggy bread? The moisture in the bread would be working against the toaster.

Brought to you from the makers of the glass hammer.

This is a great idea. Being able to see when your toast is done. Never burn it beyond your liking again.

The way I understood from the Inventables site, this isn't actually a real concept about a toaster, it's only a concept showcasing a new kind of transparent heating element. They could have used any product where you would need a heated glass, like a car windshield, but they used toaster instead because the idea is funky.

Love the concept! Some thoughts: 1) It would be great if the front lowered when the toast was ready 2) Even using standard electric elements embedded in the (Pyrex?) glass this would prevent the kind of incident at uni when my friend stuck her knife in an active toaster and nearly killed herself 3) If you laid out a matrix of elements, you could print messages on the toast 4) More than one slice of bread at a time please! 5) The glass could be outlined in red when hot 6) A self-buttering mechanism would be great too ;o) Royalties to my Paypal account please :o) David
