Wii Media Center X is basically a "free multimedia server developed by Red Kawa that allows you to stream certain types of pictures, music, videos and files from your computer (where the server running) to your Nintendo Wii. It runs on most major operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux." Download page. Video demonstration after the jump.
Wii Media Center X lets you stream and watch videos in the Flash video format (FLV) on your Wii. You can download flash videos from many places on the internet or create your own using Wii Video 9...lets you playback MP3s on your Wii without the need of an SD card
(Thanks, Danny)

Argh! I spent yesterday cleaning up my version of this idea. By the looks of it I've got the same features but they've got the nicer interface. Any point in me carrying on, or should I just let these guys do the work?

Keep it up man, alternatives are good. I'm not anti-Redkawa, I'm just saying the more people in development, the better the community.

It sounds to me like a 15yr old spanish kid is THE developer of that software? Doesn't inspire confidence in me; however it is just very simple html interfaces served from a local web server, maybe I should write a tutorial on making your own ^_^

[...] We haven’t given the program a spin, but by the looks of it, it’s all a fairly simple process. Has anyone out there taken a stab at using Wii Media Center X? Happy with it, or do you find yourself disappointed? [...]

I don't think their GUI is all that awesome. I think anything for the Wii should be more... "clicky." Something that would seem more tactile and responsive. Not to mention something that wasn't a complete clone of Windows Media Center.
