Wii No More?

According to Mike from Nintendo's Marketing Department, the Wii name is apparently a "bad thing for the company's reputation". This is what he supposedly said:
We have received over 200,000 e-mails with complaints about the Wii, and the console name has been commonly associated with urine. We have been the target of many jokes, and we strongly believe that it's a bad thing for the company's reputation

Wiilly?
2
so Nintendo finally caught on? Revolution was such a cool name.. unlike Wee Wee
3
So who was/were the idiot(s) that actually let this crap name out in the first place?
4
Oh it's pronounced like "wee" I alway's would pronounce it like "why"
5
Nintendo knows, but I don't know why they press this name so much, they could follow their doctrine with a better name.
6
Shame on Nintendo for actually expecting their audience to be mature about that name.
7
Wii was a poor marketing maneuver, at least in America. I think it will still work out as a great name in Japan, where people may acutally have a chance to see its meaning before tying it to urine. The Revolution, or whatever they decide on will still be a nice console, nonetheless.
8
Well, they already adverstised using wii too much...
9
guys dont be mean like that! wii means something in japanese just look it up !
10
I don't like the name Wii, but Revolution was a crpapy name also, but so was Gamecube, N64 was good, Gameboy was not, by the way i'm refering to names not consoles...
11
I kind of liked it... it would make the phrase "My Wii pisses all over your Xbox360..." all the more relevant!
12
i dont care what its called, as long as i have one.
13
so like what will they rename it this time... the unes is my vote... (ultimate nes) its catchy.....
14
Seriously though, I don't know why so many people are going crazy over a name. Really, who cares what it's called as long as the gameplay is good? Besides, Nintendo has finally given me a reason to add "weeeeeeeeee" to my normal conversation without looking like an idiot.

"According to Mike from Nintendo’s Marketing Department" Wow.... well, that IS a bulletproof source. I call BS on this until Terry from PR backs it up.
16
It was Wiitarded to change the name from Revolution in the first place. Wiidiculous.
17
Keep the double 'i' with: Mii Just flip the 'W'
18
Yea, who ever thought up that name, or better yet, who ever decided it was a good name AND put it in print was probably a spy from Sony or MS.

Ok you bunch of haters! Do not push Nintendo to doing what they don't want to!!! They chose the name Wii and it should stay Wii. Revolution is so lame and boring but Wii is so unique just like the console! And guys if they do have to change the name it will take longer to launch than if they kept the name Wii so I don't think they will change the name! Sorry you haters!!!!!

i've kind of grown fond of Wii, if only for pure shock value. I think it would be a bad move to change it again at this point. Indecisiveness is a bad trait.
22
Thats funny. I wanted to ask friends to come over to my house and play with my Wii
23
Wii had some marketing stratagies attachedto it, but if no one likes it to begin with theres no point to continue.

I don't believe this to be true. Nintendo's a strong willed company and wouldn't change the name no matter how many complaints they got. They listen to their customers' problems with their system, but they don't listen to them bitch and whine about a system. That's why they got the Wiimote technology. Nobody wanted VR like that, but now that they've revealed it, everyone wants it. So yeah, I do not believe it until I hear it directly from Nintendo. If they say that in the Tokyo Game Show, then fine, whatever. If not, then I'm glad Nintendo stuck to it's decision.
