The 2027 Volvo EX60 is a mid-size electric SUV poised to disrupt an increasingly saturated market. It’s all about serious range, fast charging, and Volvo’s usual devotion to safety and peaceful design, without forcing family consumers to make too many compromises.
The outward design has a clean line running through it, with a low hood, smooth front (no classic grille here), and vertical taillights that even the most experienced car watchers will recognize as a Volvo. The sloping roofline and tapered sides have earned it a drag coefficient of 0.26, which will help you get the most mileage out of your battery. The car’s general design is longer than its XC60 counterpart, with a wheelbase of 116.9 inches, which should result in a lot more legroom for passengers in the back. Also, note the level floor, which helps to free up room inside the cabin.

The Volvo EX60 has three different powerplant options to meet various needs. The standard P6 model has a single rear motor producing 369 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, paired with either an 80- or 83-kWh battery, giving you an estimated range of around 310 miles on the EPA cycle. The P10 AWD comes with dual motors generating 503 horsepower and 524 pound-feet of torque, as well as a larger 91- or 95-kWh battery that extends the range to up to 320 miles. Meanwhile, the top P12 AWD delivers 670 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque from its 112- or 117-kWh battery, with the goal being up to 400 miles on a single charge and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
The EX60’s charging capabilities are one of its most notable features. The 800-volt system allows you to draw up to 400kW from a rapid DC charger, which means you can add up to 173 miles to your tank in only 10 minutes under perfect conditions. A 10-to-80% charge takes only 18-19 minutes. By the way, every EX60 comes preinstalled with a North American Charging preinstalled port, so you can connect to the Supercharger network in the United States without the need for adapters. Level 2 home charging operates at 19.2 kW.
Inside the EX60, things are quiet and adaptable, beginning with the curved 15.1-inch OLED screen in the center of the dashboard, which runs Google software with no lag. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, but there’s also the new Google Gemini AI assistant, which lets you ask it anything in the most natural way, such “Can you please turn up the AC?” or “Where’s the nearest Starbucks?” If you’re an audiophile, you’ll be thrilled to see a 21-speaker Bose setup or a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system, both of which are powered by Dolby Atmos via Apple Music. Day-to-day operation has also been simplified thanks to storage options such as a huge fold-down bin under the dash, as well as ample load capacity (20 cubic feet behind the back seats, expanding to 64 cubic feet when the seats are folded). If you need to tow something, the EX60 has a towing capacity of 4,500 pounds.

The Volvo EX60 was designed with safety in mind; its occupants are wrapped in a reinforced boron steel cage, but that’s just the beginning – they’re also protected by a world-first multi adaptive safety belt system that adjusts its level of support in real time based on data collected from real-world driving. A host of sensors are constantly feeding the onboard computer system known as HuginCore, which was developed in collaboration with top tech companies such as Google, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm, ensuring that the car is always on the lookout for potential hazards, far exceeding what the rules currently require. One of the good things about this automobile is that Volvo will be able to send out over-the-air updates to the vehicle even after it has been driven off the lot, ensuring that you always have the most up-to-date safety and comfort features.

The EX60 is built on Volvo’s all-new and highly flexible SPA3 platform, which uses cell-to-body battery design to give the car more stiffness while weighing less and packing more energy. By employing Mega casting to make huge pieces out of recycled aluminum, the engineers were able to reduce the construction and achieve one of the lowest carbon footprints available, matching the smaller EX30, which is already one of the lowest of any completely electric Volvo on the market.

Those who enjoy venturing off the beaten path will appreciate the Cross Country version, which adds some serious toughness, with the car sitting 0.8 of an inch higher than standard to begin with, and another 0.8 of an inch extra if necessary, thanks to adjustable air suspension. It also has skid plates, larger arches, distinctive wheels, a variety of exclusive paint colors to pick from, and more. This variant uses the P10 and P12 AWD powertrains.

Pre-orders are already open in Europe, followed by orders from customers in the United States, which will be available late spring 2026. Production is ready to begin at the Swedish facility in Gothenburg, with the first cars, the P6 and P10, arriving with their new owners this summer, with the P12 following in due course. The car should start at roughly $60,000, and we’ll have more information on exact pricing and trim level closer to the vehicle’s launch.
