An extremely rare 1966 Porsche 906 has already reached $885,000 USD at auction with 2-days left, and it’s just one of 50 built for homologation in FIA Group 4 competition. This exact chassis was driven by Joseph “Sepp” Greger to class victories in 12 of 14 European Hill Climb Championship events before it was sold in 1968 to a fellow German racer.
Power comes from a 2.3L Type 901/06 flax-six engine with triple-throat Weber carburetors making 220 hp and 152 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Aesthetically, it features a yellow-tinted louvered plexiglass rear canopy, faired-in headlights, a vented front hood panel with quick-release pins, fender-mounted Talbot mirrors, aluminum side pods, and “Carrera 6” script on the fenders. Step inside, and you’ll find racing seats with fiberglass shells, Schroth six-point racing harnesses, and PCI Race Radio system with Bose Bluetooth noise-canceling headphones. More information here.
