Jean-Claude Van Damme Johnny Cage Mortal Kombat 1
Jean-Claude Van Damme is best known for his role as Frank Dux in the 1988 film ‘Bloodsport’, but his appearance as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1 may soon change that. Rather than a special code or cheat, players need to purchase the Premium Edition of the game or Kombat Pack DLC bundle to unlock this skin.

Set for release on September 19, Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a story mode, online multiplayer with rollback netcode, and offline gameplay. It also introduces a new feature called Kameo Fighters, which provides assistance to the player during fights, similar to a tag team battle. Kameo characters will be separate from the main roster, and selected before each fight.

We actually wanted to see the words ‘Van Damme’. Bloodsport was big, and so was Universal Soldier, I think. So we called his people, and we were like ‘we want to make a game based on Van Damme’, and I don’t know if he declined or just never got to him or something like that. But this is, you know, a couple of 20-something-year-old kids who wanted make a video game – I could see how Van Damme would go ‘no, we’re not doing this,'” said Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat Co-Creator.
