Filmmakers Walter Woodman, Sidney Leeder and Patrick Cederberg of Shy Kids, a Toronto-based multimedia production company, is known for their TV adverts, shorts as well as feature films. They recently joined the OpenAI Sora beta and created ‘Air Head’ to show us what the text-to-video generator can really do.
‘Air Head’ is nothing groundbreaking, as it simply follows a man with a balloon instead of a traditional human head. However, such a short film would cost thousands in CGI. Sora uses machine learning to generate static video frames and then its diffusion transformer to create a series of images, which are then stitched together to create the final clip.

As great as Sora is at generating things that appear real – what excites us is its ability to make things that are totally surreal. We now have the ability to expand on stories we once thought impossible,” said the Shy Kids crew.
