Before the Ferrari F40, there was the 1984 Pontiac Tojan, an F-Body supercar powered by 5.7L V8 engine making 800 hp, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Despite boasting a top speed of 206 mph, it only cost a fraction of the F40, or between $36,000 – $62,000, depending on the configuration.
Unfortunately, only the prototype came equipped with the 800hp engine, as most had a L98 5.7L V8 generating 205 hp. As for a 0-60 mph time, the standard model is reported to clock in at a slightly disappointing 9.2 seconds. It’s reported that only 150-300 vehicles were ever built, most of them on special request. There haven’t been a sightings recently, but keep an eye out on Bring a Trailer and Cars & Bids for a potential listing.
