Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Taycan Turbo GT Shanghai International Circuit Lap Record
Sleek and extremely fast, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric hypercar recently set a 2:09.94 lap at the Shanghai International Circuit, which bests the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (2:11.28) by over 2-seconds. Power comes from a tri-motor setup making 1,527 hp and 1,305 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to hit 60 mph in just 1.98 seconds.

Its CATL-sourced 93.7 kWh battery pack is good for a range of 323 miles (520 kilometers), 345 miles (555 kilometers), 373 miles (600 kilometers), or 391 miles (630 kilometers) depending on the trim. The SU7 Ultra is slated to go on sale later this month in China, priced from around $112,000 USD, a bargain compared to the $230,000+ Taycan Turbo GT.

The story of Xiaomi’s car-making is very inspiring. They have worked hard to defeat their competitor Huawei and obtained the last car-making qualification certificate in China. They have spent 59.8 billion yuan in three years to develop their own cars, including preparing a large factory. The factory is dust-free and automated, from handling, transportation, integrated body, frame, laser welding, motor installation. Painting and so on are all automatically completed by the robotic arm, and the accuracy has reached the world’s first-class level,” said one commenter.
