Homer Simpson may not be an expert at automotive design, but the car he designed for his brother Herb Powell’s auto manufacturer in episode “O Brother, Where Art Thou” is exactly what he felt a luxury vehicle needed. Unfortunately, with the outrageous $82,000 price tag back in 1991, the Frankenstein car managed to destroy Herb’s business. It sported a lurid green coat of paint, a rear dome equipped for fighting kids, external cup holders, hood ornament of a 10-pin bowler and a giant roof-mounted horn that blasts “La Cucaracha”.
Unfortunately, the interior of The Homer doesn’t quite seem to live up to Homer’s luxurious standards. Why? It’s only equipped with a roll cage and megaphone (possibly to help with the musical horn), but we particularly like the ‘Bort’ number plates. The car did however clock in fifth in the June 29 Button Turrible race in Los Angeles.
