Brick Science wanted to create functional Wolverine claws that can be controlled individually, so he spend countless hours making one. This required digging up some discontinued LEGO Mindstorms pieces including batteries as well as motors.
Gears on the gear rack allow the blades to go up and down, but the first issue was spacing. The latter was fixed by removing some parts and the next step was putting it all together, starting with ergonomics. LEGO Dot straps were used and then hundreds of bricks covered the hardware to make it wearable. Unfortunately, there are no superpowers that come along with these claws, unlike the comics, in which Logan’s skeleton, including his claws, was bonded with the indestructible metal known as Adamantium.
