Measuring just 1.8mm thick, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra is currently the world’s thinnest mechanical wristwatch. Limited to just 10-units worldwide and priced at approximately $440,600 USD, it sports a 40mm, sandblasted titanium case, while the hours, minutes and seconds are displayed in three sub-dials which, along with visible gears. Yes, there is a QR code engraved on the barrel, which not only lets owners access interviews, making-of segments and a virtual 3-D tour of the movement, but also an original NFT artwork.
To achieve its 1.8mm thickness, Bulgari had to use cobalt due to more traditional materials being unable to handle stress with such a thin profile. Its thickness is similar to a credit card, yet the watch still packs 170 components and a 50-hour power reserve using a large mainspring barrel. Plus, you get a custom-made box that replenishes its 50+ hour power reserve and regulates its timekeeping. For those interested, the timepiece is available now directly from Bulgari.
