Fan Oblivion Port Remaster Unreal Engine 5
Greg Coulthard’s Oblivion port in Unreal Engine 5 just got a massive update that includes over 3,000 enhanced textures. It’s not a full remake with gameplay mechanics, but rather a visual overhaul that brings the world of Cyrodiil into the game engine with some stunning upgrades.

These textures significantly boost the visual fidelity of the game’s environments that make Cyrodiil pop in 4K glory. The port uses Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities like Nanite for high-detail geometry and improved lighting systems (via Ultra Dynamic Sky), giving it a modern, next-gen sheen. That said, it sticks to the original game’s assets for the most part, so while the lighting and resolution are a huge leap forward, it’s not a complete rebuild from scratch.

The tech demo you see here runs on high-end hardware (rumored to be an RTX 5090, though that’s not officially confirmed), and it’s more of a showcase than a playable game. You can explore the map, soak in the revamped visuals, and get a taste of what Oblivion could look like with today’s tech, but don’t expect quests or combat—it’s all about the sightseeing. You can download it from his Discord server today.

Watching this alone feels like that feeling from the first time playing Skyrim. You know that feeling you get every once in a while as a breeze goes by. Yeah. Wow,” said one commenter.
