
Industrial designer Saun Park’s FoldWave portable microwave is fully collapsible and then transported like a laptop, complete with handle. This device would be ideal for camping trips, travel, lunch breaks at work, or even at sporting events.
Some may confuse this with an air fryer, but the FoldWave functions just like its wired counterpart by heating the water molecules in food using microwave radiation. When this water is heated, the molecules collide with each other and the energy produced generates heat. Put simply, microwave ovens agitate the water molecules inside the food. For basic safety, the material used would need to ensure that the non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation doesn’t escape the oven. If FoldWave is truly wireless, there would be a lithium-ion battery or two hidden away in the base or top of the device.
