Japanese company Koyoju Plywood Corporation unveils Giraffenap, an innovative pod that lets you snooze vertically at work (or in coffee shops). Let’s face it, sleeping while standing isn’t the most comfortable thing, but this pod attempts to make it slightly more comfortable with padding for your head, rear, shins and even the soles of your feet.
Despite how it looks, the company claims that a person can reach Stage 2 sleep, or when the body enters a more relaxed state as the brain waves slow down. It’s designed for 20-minute power naps, as there is an alarm that you can set, but one coffee shop that has this installed recommends drinking a cup of Joe first before heading in for a snooze. Available in Spacia and Forest variants, it’s set to go on sale in late December, with pricing yet to be announced.
