FBR’s Hadrian X, the world’s fastest brick-laying construction robot, has arrived in the US. It’s currently being used at a facility in Fort Myers, Florida to build 10 houses to showcase its abilities.
When operating at full speed, Hadrian X is capable of stacking 500 USA-format masonry blocks per hour and can do so once loaded by pallets containing them. Individual blocks are then sent down a chute on the arm, painted with a quick-dry construction adhesive that takes the place of mortar. A variable gripper at the end of the arm places the bricks to build structures up to three-stories tall and can do so around the clock.

The next-generation Hadrian X unit will undertake Site Acceptance Testing at the facility, consisting of a test build outdoors with the same requirements as the previously completed Factory Acceptance Testing, plus the inclusion of some bond beam blocks and an inspection from an independent structural engineer to confirm that the constructed walls of the test build are consistent with the design and meet applicable building standards,” said the company in a press release.
